One of the bittersweet things about funerals is that it is a time for family to get together. It's a sad occasion, but the presence of family is encouraging. It has been too long since all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins have been together. An attempt is always made at Christmas, but inevitably there is always at least one member missing.

Grandma would be smiling to see all of us together. It's like George Burns said, "Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city." ;-) But seriously, it was nice to have everyone together again.
