This tree in our front yard sheds these greenish "fuzzies" all over the place in April and May. Nick and I spent two hours pulling weeds and blowing out all of the "fuzzies" out of the rocks over the weekend. As irritating as it is, the tree looks pretty good in this picture! It also shades the front of our house in the summer. So, I suppose I shouldn't complain.
Our backyard contains this rather strange bush. For a long time Nick and I thought it was dead and ugly, and we considered pulling it out. Our indecision proved to be beneficial; in the last few days this interesting red bloom has appeared! We still have no idea what it is, but I like the way it looks.
Nick was also trimming the big palm tree in our back yard. Apparently they are supposed to be kept trimmed back, especially in the summer, because it helps them to survive in the extreme Arizona heat. However, it's easier said than done! The fronds on this tree have razor sharp edges, so Nick had to wear good work gloves. With the help of a hacksaw, this tree was trimmed in about 30 minutes.
We didn't really think about what to do with the branches once they were cut from the tree...my response when Nick asked me how we would dispose of them: We could build a fort??

I think the bush is a bottle brush. I use to have one when I loved in AZ. They also come in various sizes and some are trees. As far as the limbs go, you can dry them and then burn them in your fire pit......Oh I forgot....no fire pit. Call the township and see when they come to pick them up or if they have a drop off. I would tie them together for transport. When we cut the big grass plumbs in the fall, we tie them in three different places and then cut them off at the bottom. No mess to get them to the burn pile and with twine you can just burn it as well. Glad the blower works.
